1. Arrowhead Point Resort Campground & Cabins

Arrowhead Point Campground & Cabins is a top choice for RV travelers in Buena Vista. Located just minutes from downtown, this campground offers a range of amenities to ensure a comfortable stay.

After looking around at all of the options, this is where I choose to park my behemoth of a rig.

  • Amenities: Full hookups, Wi-Fi, cabins and yerts, pavilion with a BBQ, volleyball, horseshoe, badminton, playground, laundry facilities, showers, and a camp store.
  • Location: Conveniently situated near major attractions like the Arkansas River and Collegiate Peaks. It took me about 10 minutes to get into town.
  • Open: May 1 to September 30th (Weather Permitting)

What Makes Arrowhead Point Campground Stand Out

Personally, I thought that this was a cute and cozy little campground with stunning views of the surrounding mountains.

Throughout the park, they had several amenities that make it perfect for families or getting to know other campers.

I was also very impressed with all of the tent sites with their shade and impressive views!

Note that they did change management and several construction projects are going on to increase amenities.

What Makes Snowy Peaks RV Park Stand Out

What stood out to me was all of the trees that surrounded each spot and the entire RV Park.

Also, they offer some pretty spacious RV spots for bigger rigs (up to 75 feet long) and a plethora of activities that take place within the park, such as cookouts, game nights, and fire truck rides.

Don’t have an RV? No problem! You can rent one! These range from massive 43’ (like mine…) or smaller deluxe rigs to try out for size.

Where was this when I was deciding to go full-time?!

Insider Tips for Your RV Trip to Buena Vista

Plan Your Route

When heading to Buena Vista, it’s important to plan your route.

The drive through Colorado’s mountainous terrain can be challenging, especially for larger RVs.

This is especially true during the winter – the snow may be beautiful, but it spells trouble for navigating with RVs.

Explore Local Attractions

Buena Vista is brimming with attractions that cater to all interests. Here are some ideas for your Buena Vista bucket list:

  • Go white water rafting: The Arkansas River provides famous rafting spots for all levels!
  • Try your luck with fishing: Fishing is one of the most popular activities in this area. You can go by yourself or go on a guided fishing tour.
  • Hike a 14er: Fourteeners are a Colorado staple! These are VERY intense hikes up to mountains that reach over 14,000 feet (4,267 m). Buena Vista is in the Sawatch Range – the most concentrated area of 14ers in the state.
  • Soak in the Mt Princeton Hot Springs: Mount Princeton Hot Springs is a resort that offers soaking pools as well as naturally occurring geothermal hot springs.
  • Explore Saint Elmo: If you are looking for a hidden gem, you could go explore one of the best-preserved ghost towns in the West!

Pack for All Seasons

Colorado’s weather can be unpredictable, so it’s wise to pack for all seasons. Even in summer, temperatures can drop significantly at night.

Bring layers, rain gear, and plenty of sunscreen to stay comfortable throughout your trip.

When I went in June, the water was high (which made water activities very interesting), the days were hot, and the nights were cool!
