How to Get to Paonia State Park from Denver
For my out of town adventurers, you will want to fly into DIA (Denver International Airport).
Find a Flight to Denver
Rent a Car
In order to get to Paonia, you will need to have access to a car. Or, you can rent one below.
Driving Instructions from Denver to Paonia
- Start in Denver on I-70 W.
- Stay on I-70 W for about 157 miles until you reach Glenwood Springs. This is a great place for a break, maybe take a dip in the hot springs!
- After Glenwood Springs, continue on I-70 W for about 12 more miles.
- Take exit 116 for CO-82 E toward Aspen/Carbondale.
- Continue on CO-82 E for about 13 miles and turn left onto CO-133 S toward Paonia.
- Follow CO-133 S for around 60 miles. You’ll go over McClure Pass (breathtaking views here!) and continue along the Crystal River.
- Look for signs for Paonia State Park and turn right to head into the park.
The drive is roughly 220 miles and should take around 4-4.5 hours, depending on traffic and road conditions. Make sure to pack snacks and enjoy the beautiful mountain scenery!
